Hummus has been a middle eastern staple for as long as we can remember. There are many that claim to have the best hummus but our personal favorite is chef Maha’s. It’s creamy, authentic, flavorful and super easy to make!

Before we start the OG way does require prepping from the night before so we’re giving you a shortcut if you want that creamy dip asap. Seriously though, you’re never going to want to buy store-bought hummus again.

What you’ll need

Serving size- 3-4 people

1.5 Cup Garbanzo beans

1/3 Cup Tahini sauce

1/4 Cup Lemon juice

3 Tbsp Olive oil

2/3 Cup water (add slowly)

2 Medium sized cloves garlic

.5 Tsp Salt or to taste

If you are using dry garbanzo beans, soak them overnight, and boil them with a little baking soda until they are cooked all the way through. Organic canned garbanzo beans work fine.

In a food processor grab your garlic and salt, mix it for 10-15 seconds. Then add your garbanzo beans, lemon juice, and 1 tbsp water. Mix and slowly add the rest of the water 1 tbsp at a time. Mix until creamy and lump free. You want to get the mix as smooth as possible before adding the tahini. Then add the tahini paste and blend until completely mixed. Add your olive oil and taste your hummus. This is where you add extra lemon juice, salt or olive oil (depending on your preference.) Blend again and your hummus is ready!Keep in mind hummus will get firm after plating and refrigerating so don’t freak out if it seems a little loose.
