TO ALL MY GIRLS ON VALENTINES DAY

TO ALL MY GIRLS ON VALENTINES DAY

Happy V-day, Babes! I know this holiday could be stressful especially with social media, regardless if you’re in a relationship or not. So I’m here to hopefully shed some insight and send my love to you today. To be honest, this holiday can also feel super forced at times. Remember, You don’t have to celebrate this holiday the same way everyone else does. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying no to quality time with bae and a present or two *wink.* I just never really held many expectations for this day- and I don’t think you should either.

As you’re scrolling through your socials and seeing rediculous celeb gifts, like a million red roses for every step they’ve ever taken as a couple. Just remember not everything is as pure as it seems on IG.

I created a few covid friendly ideas on how you can spend your v-day. I’m not trashing how anyone chooses to spend this day. I just want you to know you don’t have to cave in to the pressure if you don’t feel like it’s you.

For my single ladies-

+ Don’t forget about the ones you do have in your life. Take your parents or bffl out for coffee and go drink it somewhere with a view. I’m a Cali girl, so we like to take ours and sit at the beach.

+ Spend quality time with yourself. Pop on your favorite movie and order your fav meal. Take a nice relaxing bath and burn some candles. Don’t forget to water the relationship you have with yourself.

+ Make a gratitude list. It is super easy to get caught in an endless web of negative thoughts while focusing on what you don’t have. This may seem difficult or pointless, but it will help you cultivate gratitude.

+ Facetime date with a close friend. After all, we are still in a pandemic, so chances are your other friends are chillin at home too.

+ Buy yourself something you’ve been wanting for a while. I know it’s nice to receive gifts, but it feels so good to get things for you! I actually prefer it. I don’t like waiting, so I just buy things when I want them (lol).

+ Galentine’s activities. I’ve had a few galentine parties and I think they’re so fun! Spend time with your closest friends and have a game night. I think it’s super cute and powerful.

If you’re in a relationship-

+ Find out your partner’s love language. If it is quality time and personal touch, do you really want to send them a gift and feel like you did your part? Take the time to really think about what it is they value and care about.

+ Stay in and avoid the crowded restaurants. You could order in or cook a delicious meal together. Have a game night or watch a movie.

+ Set up a tent in your backyard and go camping together. I love this idea cause you naturally disconnect from the world just by putting yourself in that space.

+ Handmake your gifts. If you’d like to stay away from material gifts, you could write a love letter and read them to each other. For inspo, you could go on Pinterest and find creative handmade gifts.

+ Make it fun. You can buy little canvases and have a paint night! Or give each other 30 minute massages.

Whatever you choose to do, just remember that the key is to be in gratitude and appreciate the loved ones that you do have in your life.

Don’t compare yourself to others because nobody’s life is as perfect as they try to make it seem on Instagram.

You are a complete unique being, and if you find someone who compliments you, that is a blessing. Don’t forget to love yourself unconditionally along the way.

With love,

xo Samar
